i guess my first diary entry will be about zeroday... heres my insight: i think the movie portrays school shootings very well unlike others. it makes me a little mad when Andre and Calvin went to shoot with Chris, and you can quite literally see and hear them joke around with constant laughter but referencing the words "Natural Selection", these words were on the shirt of Eric H. if you gave an uncultured loser a clip of this part, they'd think, "Wow, looks like some normal highschoolers shooting with their buddy. No surprise there, what am I supposed to find?" thats not the point i am making... the point is, they referenced many other incidents but nobody noticed, including some (BUT NOT ALL.) viewers of the movie itself. for an example... Andre spoke about the Zero Day Invasion Plan. He said, "The people who have done this in the past have always had a predetermined date to do it on. May 27th, or whatever." i looked up incidents on that date, and i have found two shootings. Perhaps they were referencing these? i know it is scripted for the actors hanging out with Andre and Calvin to not realize their plan! however, its so interesting to me how Ben played this whole thing out regarding the references, dialogue, and in general just the acting between Andre Keuck and Cal Robertson. Zero Day is a beautiful piece of work. the last thing i will talk about for today is the ending of Zero Day. most people think Andre was the manipulative one-while Calvin is a "sweet angel who does no harm!" They would be wrong. Both of them were manipulative. Zero Day was a mutual plan they had, but... i think Calvin was more focused on the suicide part of this, as for Andre, he was more so into the taking of lives. Now, Calvin did believe ending your life was meaningless unless you did some big, dramatic thing. ("I'm not going to leave cleanly. I'm not just going to fade out. I'm gonna make my mark and then it'll be my time to die. I mean, it's a lost cause when you just kill yourself." -Calvin) they both fed into each others bad habits. Andre had built up anger against the world, i think he would have still done Zero Day by himself.
